BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – One of Bellingham’s newest park features is back open to the public.

Bellingham Parks and Rec says the Little Squalicum Pier reopened over the past weekend.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that the pier closed on Dec. 10 after large sinkholes appeared at its entrance. Parks staff believe high tides and waves caused the damage.

The department says crews completed the repairs in record time, placing 160 tons of rock material to stabilize the shoreline.

There’s still some work to be done, but the pier will remain open as crews put the finishing touches on this week.

Little Squalicum Pier opened in April 2025 as the longest public pier in the state, with over 1,200 feet of public access over Bellingham Bay.
