WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Lifestyle Lookout returns this week after a brief hiatus. KGMI’s Adam Smith spent last week wandering the streets of Manhattan and is now refreshed, fully sated and ready to get you up to date on everything happening in Whatcom County. Let’s get right to it.

This weekend is your last chance to check out the 2025 Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden. There’s a ton to do at the fair including a carnival, a dog show, a Barnyard with animal races, horse shows, fun food and drink options and, of course, live music.

ZZ Top’s performance on Saturday is sold out, but there are still tickets available for Throwback Hip Hop Night on Friday, Aug. 15 featuring Chingy, Ginuwine and Ying Yang Twins.

Tickets to the Northwest Washington Fair are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 6 to 12 years old. Live music tickets must be purchased separately. Go to nwwafair.com for tickets and all the details.

A new Bellingham tradition returns this weekend on the waterfront.

The 2025 Noisy Waters Mural Festival runs Friday to Sunday next to the Portal Container Village and Kulshan Trackside (298 W Laurel Street). It’s a weekend of mural painting, demos, music, parties, education and more.

Attendees can vote for their favorite mural and winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Go to noisywatersmuralfest.com.

After a weekend of good times, plan ahead for an event at the Mount Baker Theatre as legendary country music star Josh Turner brings the hits on Tuesday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Josh Turner will bring This Country Music Thing to Bellingham, with special guest Will Jones. Turner has seen the trends come and go and soldiered through the ups and downs of an often fickle business. He’s stayed true to himself and, with his 10th studio album This Country Music Thing, he’s in a sweet spot of creative confidence.
“This is who I am. This is who I was born to be — it’s something that feeds me and fulfills me, and I’ve never lost my love for this,” Turner says. “When I first started, my goal was to just be myself and sing songs that meant something to me. To keep the tradition of country alive, but at the same time, make it fresh, make it new. I feel like it gets more challenging over time, but at the end of the day, it’s worth it.”
Tickets are on sale now at mountbakertheatre.com.

If you’re looking to shop local this weekend, you’re in luck.

The Local Crafter’s Market will be at the Bellis Fair Mall on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring up to 30 local vendors selling unique, handcrafted goods. The weather could be dreary on Saturday, so they’ll have it all set up inside the mall for your perusing pleasure.

We’ve got two featured live shows for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

First up, Bellingham native Mostafa is coming home to celebrate his birthday with an all-ages show at the Blue Room on Friday, Aug. 15. Fresh off an international tour, Mostafa and DJ Will bring their brand of hip hop to the stage along with BIG $NNO, NEFFY 3600, Dank Zavala and Y2000.

The show starts at 10 p.m. For tickets go to blueroombham.com.

Next up, it’s a night of folk and indie country at the Shakedown on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Aptly named Serafima and the Shakedowns headline along with Shadow Basket, Sunflecks and Dogwood. It’ll be a showcase of local and regional talent that’s sure to satisfy fans of everything from Hank Williams to Mellisa Ethridge.

The show starts at 8 p.m. For tickets go to shakedownbellingham.com.
