WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It’s official. There is snow in the mountains, and the great wet darkness is settling into the Pacific Northwest. It’s a curse for some and a blessing for others.

Either way, we have tons of fun activities in store for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

It’s spooky season and that means it is time for Hellingham at The Upfront Theatre. In this mystery horror production, improvisers will take inspiration from the audience to determine who will kill and who will be killed. Every character’s fate will eventually be revealed on stage in this fan-favorite murder mystery.

Hellingham runs every Friday and Saturday through Nov. 1. It is all-ages but includes adult content. For tickets, go to theupfront.com.

Farther north, the Lynden Heritage Museum is hosting an interactive mystery of their own. Attendees will put their detective hats on and interview characters before guessing who’s guilty in The Case of the Emporium Inferno.

It’s all-ages fun and will feature Italian sodas and a food truck. The Case of the Emporium Inferno runs this Saturday, Oct. 18, next Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For tickets, go to lyndenheritagemuseum.org.

For an event that will be considerably less spooky but equally as fun, head to Bloedel Donovan Park this weekend.

The Komo Kulshan Ski Club is hosting their annual Ski Swap this Friday and Saturday. It is a great opportunity to score great deals on ski and snowboard gear just in time for the snow to start piling up in the Cascades.

Early Bird shopping runs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, then free public access runs from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and again from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Money raised for the sale goes to support the Komo Kulshan Scholarship Program and the Mt. Baker Race Team.

For all the details, go to komokulshanskiclub.com.

We have two featured live shows in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

First up, it’s fun for the whole family at the Mount Baker Theatre. Sesame Street Live: Elmo and Friends Say Hello is on Saturday at 2 p.m. Strap on your dancing shoes and enjoy this all-new celebration of the iconic kids television show.

Tickets for Sesame Street Live can be purchased at mountbakertheatre.com.

Next up, icons of a slightly different ilk will bless the City of Subdued Excitement for a Sunday night show at the Shakedown.

Crossover legends D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) will blow the roof off the place with thrash metal riffs, punk rock attitude and blistering DIY anthems. Fans of Suicidal Tendencies, Metallica and Slayer don’t want to miss this one.

Opening for D.R.I. are Ritual Killing, Boxcutter PNW, and Authors of Fate. For tickets, go to shakedownbellingham.com.
