BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Events abound in Whatcom County this weekend. We have it all for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Summer weather is here and that means it’s time for the 80th annual Lummi Stommish Water Festival.

Featuring canoe races, traditional song and dance, stick games, a Veteran’s parade and more, this annual celebration of Lummi culture was first held in 1946 to honor Veterans returning from World War II. The festival also features a salmon BBQ, vendors and food trucks.

Stommish runs Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21 with events all day long. It’s free and open to everyone.

Friday is Juneteenth and there are multiple events in Whatcom County to commemorate the occasion.

Connect Ferndale is hosting the Juneteenth Community Cookout at Pioneer Park on Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will celebrate liberation with live music, food, outdoor games, kids’ activities and more.

If you want to stick to Bellingham, head down to Maritime Heritage Park on Saturday, June 20 for the Official Juneteenth Celebration.

It will be a day of culture, community and connection. Much like the event in Ferndale, Juneteenth in Bellingham will feature live music, dance, food trucks, vendors and more. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

If you’re looking for a little beach time this weekend, you are in luck. The Kids Kite Festival runs all weekend long at Birch Bay State Park. Wren the Juggler and Wagon of Whimsey will keep the kids entertained both days. There will also be kite activities, food trucks, vendors and a maker market.

The Kite Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

We have two featured live shows for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Opening for Russian Blue are Full Color Dream and Disaster Queen. The 21+ show starts at 9 p.m.

On Saturday night, Phoenix’s Ghost in the Willow will perform at Bar 211. Fusing indie rock vibes and post-grunge sonics, Ghost in the Willow plays a brand of rock and roll that appeals to music fans of all ages.
