BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – April showers have brought May flowers to Whatcom County. It’s great timing because this Sunday, May 10 is Mother’s Day. We have a full list of fun Mother’s Day events for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

The Spring Wine Walk is Friday, May 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees can stroll around downtown Bellingham tasting wine at 23 participating businesses. If you taste something you really like, you can buy a bottle or two to take home.

This year’s wine walk also features a DJ After Party at the Central Pier next to the Granary Building on the waterfront.

If your mom has a green thumb, you might want to make a trip to Hovander Park in Ferndale on Saturday, May 9.

The Hovander Plant Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features perennials, trees, shrubs, veggies, tools, gifts and more. It is the Master Gardener Foundation of Whatcom County’s main sale of the season, so be there or be square.

If you want to treat your mom to something really special, Willowbrook Manor in Sedro-Woolley is hosting Mother’s Tea on Friday and Saturday. Drink tea and snack on sandwiches, scones and other baked sweets while you’re surrounded by the tranquility of one of Skagit County’s most beautiful spots.

We have a couple of Mother’s Day brunches to highlight this weekend.

Bellewood Farms is hosting brunch on Sunday with a buffet and mimosas. They will have bouquets and other gifts for sale and live music to set the mood. Give them a call to make a reservation.

Chuckanut Bay Distillery is also hosting a Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday. It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature refreshments and libations, parfaits, salads, charcuterie, a full breakfast buffet, and carving and crepe stations.

Mother’s Day Brunch at the distillery is $60, $30 for kids 10 and under, and free for kids 5 and under.

We have two featured live shows in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

On Friday night, Main Street Bar and Grill in Ferndale is hosting a free rock show. No-Fi Soul Rebellion, Cat Positive and Green Daze will bring nonstop pop-rock vibes town.

Cat Positive and No-Fi are staples of the Bellingham music scene and Green Daze performs covers of Green Day and other pop-punk bands. The show starts at 9 p.m.

On Sunday night, Seattle’s The Darts are coming to town for a show at Shakedown. Their fuzzed-out garage rock energy and hypnotic goth rhythms are reminiscent of bands like The Damned and Bauhaus.

Opening for The Darts are Service (Indianapolis) and Bellingham punk legends Boxcutter PNW. For tickets, to shakedownbellingham.com.
