WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 11. Fear not if you still haven’t put the finishing touches on your plans. We’ve got you covered in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

For all the comedy lovers out there, David Cross is performing at the Mount Baker Theatre on Friday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. The iconic standup comedian will bring his The End of the Beginning of the End tour to Bellingham.

The Emmy Award winner and two-time Grammy nominee explores themes like religion, politics and the cultural divide in America. The show includes adult themes and language. Purchase tickets at mountbakertheatre.com.

If it is family fun you are looking for, look no further than Pioneer Pavilion in Ferndale. Mayor Greg Hansen is hosting Big Jam Stories on Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

Big Jam Stories features the work of Mark Nichols and tells the story of a little boy who lives on the big log jam in the Nooksack River. Storytellers and musicians will guide viewers through a magical world beneath the iconic log jam that was cleared in 1877. The larger story of ‘little boy of big jam’ is told as fables, tall tales, and myth.

The event is free. For more details, check out Big Jam Stories on Facebook.

All the wine lovers out there do not want to miss the Spring Wine Walk in downtown Bellingham. At the Friday evening event hosted by the Downtown Bellingham Partnership, tasters can meander the streets between pop-up tasting rooms at 20 businesses and taste an array of regional wines.

The Spring Wine Walk runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 and come with 10 tasting tickets, swag and discounts at participating stores. Go to downtownbellingham.com for tickets.

Let’s talk brunch, shall we?

Numerous spots in Bellingham are hosting special Mother’s Day brunch events. The Hotel Leo will serve up classics with seasonal twists, along with craft cocktails and more. The Lighthouse Grill at the Hotel Bellweather will feature a special four-course brunch.

Of course, this will be your last chance to celebrate Mother’s Day at Boundary Bay Brewing. Bellingham’s oldest brewery recently announced that they are closing after decades serving great beer and delicious food. On Sunday, they will have a special brunch menu featuring benedicts, quiche, French toast and more.

Our featured live show this week is a special Mother’s Day show at the Blue Room. MaMuse will bring their folksy, pop melodies to the stage on Sunday for an all-ages show.

Opening for MaMuse is Earth Practice. Buy your tickets at blueroombham.com.
