WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County will be buzzing this weekend with multiple festivals, art shows and touring musical acts coming to our neck of the woods. The City of Subdued Excitement may need to rethink its nickname with everything we have for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

If you feel like embracing the winter season, you are in luck. Paper Whale presents Fire and Story on Bellingham’s waterfront.

Fire and Story is a family-friendly winter festival featuring firepits, art installations, metalsmithing, saunas and performances. There will also be food, hot beverages and alcohol for sale.

Fire and Story runs three nights from Thursday, Jan. 22 to Saturday, Jan. 24. For more details and tickets, go to fireandstory.com.

The Bellingham Folk Festival is also this weekend and will feature four days of live music, dances and workshops at venues across the city.

Kick it off with a Pub Sing at Menace Brewing, check out concerts at Blue Room, Shakedown, Uisce and more, or brush up on your guitar picking skills at workshops and lessons. The Bellingham Folk Festival features something for everyone.

The Bellingham Folk festival runs from Thursday to Sunday, Jan. 25. For a full schedule of free and ticketed events, go to thebellinghamfolkfestival.com.

If you are a fan of arts and crafts, Jansen Art Center in Lynden has you covered. Five new exhibits are currently on view through March 27.

From the naturalist works of Denise Snyder to the colorful paintings of Ee Lin Lee and the Black Swan Art Groups Spirals and Circles works, fans of visual art have plenty to explore. Plus, Instrument Building by Chet Noll includes bi-weekly lectures and concerts featuring locally made harpsichords, pianos and more.

Talib Kweli will perform with special guests. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. For tickets, go to wildbuffalo.net.
