This Friday, July 19, Dustbowl Revival is performing at the Wild Buffalo with special guests. Dustbowl Revival has toured in over ten countries from Denmark to China, pushing the boundaries of American roots music for over a decade now. Their sound celebrates everyone from Louis Armstrong to Aretha Franklin to Bruce Springsteen.

If you love food and cycling, here’s a great event for you. Sustainable Connections is hosting its Farm to Table Trail ride in Ferndale on Friday. You can experience the local farm fresh food scene by bike while sampling cheese, berries and more. And you’ll get to know the farmers that keep Ferndale’s food economy buzzing.
It’s a four-hour tour starting at 12:30 p.m. and farm visits include Appel Farms, Oak Meadow Farms, Boxx Berry Farm and Twin Sisters Creamery. Tour guides will manage the logistics for you and provide water and snacks. If you don’t have a bike, they can provide you with recommendations for a rental.

Have you heard of the Washington Native Plant Society? The Koma Kulshan Chapter hosts free field trips to the North Cascades all summer long. On Saturday, July 20, you can join eleven other lovers of the outdoors on a hiking trip to Grouse Ridge, where you’ll wander through flower-covered alpine meadows on the slopes of Mount Baker. It’s a five-mile roundtrip hike with 1,600 feet of elevation gain.
On August 3, you can join them for a trip to Excelsior Peak. Then on August 14, they’ll head up for a hike to Lake Ann. Their last field trip of the summer is on September 13 on the Chain Lakes trail at Heather Meadows.
The Koma Kulshan field trippers meet up at the Sunset Square Safeway for Saturday’s trip. You do need to register because there’s a 12-person limit. The big event in Whatcom County this weekend is the Northwest Raspberry Festival in Lynden. If you want to listen to Bo Wilde’s take on it from the Lynden Hometown News, you can do that here. There’s a 3-on-3 basketball tournament running all day Friday and Saturday, a wine tasting and beer garden, the Razz and Shine Car Show, live music, plus a whole lot more.
