WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Who wants to have some fun?! This weekend is full of fun-filled activities in Whatcom County. From Fairhaven to Ferndale to Birch Bay and beyond, it is all on the docket in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

It is going to be a perfect weekend to take a nice stroll outside. Celebrate Trails Day runs Saturday, April 25 all day along the Salish Coast Trail and the Bay to Baker Trail. From Bellingham to Birch Bay and all the way out to Maple Falls, events will be happening to celebrate the beauty of our region and educate trail patrons.

For all the details, go recreationnorthwest.org.

If you plan on doing yardwork this weekend, you are in luck. The Koma Kulshan Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society is hosting the Native Plant Sale at Cordata Park (4510 Cordata Pkwy) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees can buy plants that are low maintenance, require less water than non-natives, improve soil and provide shelter for wildlife. Fifty species of plants will be on sale and experts will be on the scene to educate gardeners about what they are buying and why native plants are so important.

For details, go to the Koma Kulshan website.

Two events in Ferndale will keep locals busy this weekend. First up, Ferndale Community Services is hosting Beach Bingo on Friday, April 24 at 5 p.m. Head to the Ferndale Events Center (5715 Barrett Rd) for this 21+ event, dress in your favorite beachgoing attire, grab a dauber and some bingo booklets, and partake in some hot bingo action.

This year’s event will even feature music bingo. For all the details and to buy tickets for Beach Bingo, go to the Ferndale Community Services Facebook page.

On Saturday, the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce is getting in on the action with the 5k Flower Power Run at 11 a.m. The course starts at Pioneer Pavilion on 2nd Ave then heads over the Nooksack River and down through Hovander Park before finishing up at FrinGe Brewing (5640 3rd Ave).

Registration for the 5k Flower Power Run is $35 with the proceeds going to fund the flower baskets that adorn Ferndale’s downtown streets.

For all the details, go to the Ferndale Chamber’s website.

Our featured live show this week is a fundraiser at Shakedown on Saturday night. Revelers will enjoy a night of music while helping raise money to benefit the workers of IAM Local 2379 while they negotiate a new contract.

Fog Bodies is headlining with their fusion of dream pop and indie shoegaze rock. Fans of Beach House, My Bloody Valentine and Belly don’t want to miss this one.

Fans of metal and punk won’t be disappointed either because Meece and No Guts are also on the bill. For tickets, go to shakedownbellingham.com.
