Incumbents lead 42nd District races

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Incumbents are leading both races for 42nd District state representative.

Democrat Alicia Rule appears to be headed for a showdown with Republican Raymond Pelletti for Position 1 in November.

Rule is less than one percentage point ahead of Pelletti in the top-two primary.

Another Democrat in the race, Janet Melman, is carrying about 7% of the vote.

In the Position 2 race, incumbent Democrat Joe Timmons leads Republican Kamal Bhachu by almost 6%.

The Whatcom County Auditor will release an updated count at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
