Home fire south of Everson sends one to hospital

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – One person suffered a burn injury following in a structure fire at a home south of Everson this afternoon.

Whatcom Fire District 1 says it was dispatched to a residential structure fire near the intersection of Goshen and Mission roads around 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Crews from North Whatcom Fire and Rescue and the Bellingham Fire Department were also among the responding agencies.

District 1 spokesperson Ian Travitzky tells My Bellingham Now that there was work being done on the home when the fire started.

Everyone was out of the home by the time fire crews arrived, though one person was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center with a burn injury.

Crews got the fire under control roughly 20 minutes after they were dispatched and cleared the incident around 1:15 p.m.

Fire District 1 has not released a specific cause of the fire nor the extent of the damage.
