WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Take caution if you’re traveling across the mountains over the next few days.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued several weather advisories for the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit counties through the night of Friday, March 13.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, which forecasters say will bring 10-15 inches of snow in the mountains.

A blizzard warning will then take effect starting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 and extending through 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 12. Snow accumulations could reach up to over a foot and wind gusts may reach 55 mph.

And a winter storm watch will go into effect starting late on Wednesday, March 11 and last through late on Friday, March 13.

That’s expected to bring up to 4 feet of snow with wind gusts as high as 40 mph.

NWS says travel during those times should be restricted to emergencies only.
