Flood aid now available for Whatcom County families with young children

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – More support is available for families with young children who were impacted by last December’s flooding.

The Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group is now offering financial assistance for families with children 5 years and under.

In order to qualify, families must have unmet needs related to the flooding and make at or below 80% of the Area Median Income.

The funds are made possible through the Whatcom Healthy Children’s Fund.

The recovery group estimates the floods impacted more than 100 children ages 5 and under in Whatcom County.

Area Median Income Eligibility Guidelines (according to the Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group)

  • Household of 1: No more than $66,750 per year
  • Household of 2: No more than $76,300
  • Household of 3: No more than $85,850
  • Household of 4: No more than $95,350
  • Household of 5: No more than $103,000
  • Household of 6: No more than $110,650
  • Household of 7: No more than $118,250
  • Household of 8: No more than $125,850
