SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The families of two of the shooting victims at last summer’s Beyond Wonderland EDM festival are suing Live Nation and others.

KOMO reports the wrongful death lawsuit was filed in King County Thursday against the event organizing company and security companies that worked at the event. The lawsuit alleges the organizers and security had “inadequate, unreasonable and egregiously deficient conduct and security.”

Engaged couple Josilyn Ruiz and Brandy Escamilla of Seattle were shot at the Gorge amphitheater campgrounds in June 2023. Ruiz and Escamilla died from their injuries and three others were injured in the shooting.

The alleged shooter, active-duty US army member James Kelly, faces two first-degree murder charges and three first-degree assault charges. His trial is set to begin Aug. 7 in Grant County.
