BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Beachgoers are about to have more space to recreate at one of Bellingham’s most visited parks.

Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Oliver said that they’ve accepted a bid to create two new beach areas at Boulevard Park.

The new beaches will start near Woods Coffee and extend south towards the end of the boardwalk. The area is currently the site of a fenced-off zone that has been off-limits since November 2021, where erosion had damaged the shoreline.

As part of the project, boulder barriers will be replaced with gravel and a more stable trail will be constructed.

Another beach area was constructed north of the park’s playground in 2013.

It’s unclear when construction is set to begin, but the work is expected to be complete within a two-month period.
