WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The tragic death of a Washington State Patrol trooper may have helped save lives drivers on the road.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) recently released preliminary results from its “One More Stop” campaign to honor their fallen trooper, Christopher Gadd. The campaign is dedicated to keeping speeding and impaired drivers off the road.

They say troopers made over 4,600 traffic stops during the statewide emphasis patrol on Sept. 27 and arrested 68 impaired drivers.

Gadd was killed earlier this year in March after he was hit by an impaired driver on I-5 near Marysville. Just before the incident, Gadd had messaged a group of his fellow troopers that he would meet up with them for break after one more stop.

State Patrol Chief John Batiste says he has “no doubt” that Trooper Gadd’s memory has helped them save lives.
