Seahawks News

The Seahawks will be missing their QB1 this Sunday.

Coach Mike Macdonald announced today that Sam Darnold will miss their upcoming game with a quad injury.

Macdonald says Darnold suffered the injury on the final drive of their loss to the Bears Monday, but also suffered a cracked rib on the second play of the game.

Darold is considered week-to-week and won’t be placed on the injured reserve.

Drew Lock will start in his place, but is also dealing with an injury to his throwing elbow that caused him to be inactive in each of the past two games.

The Seahawks will host the Arizonal Cardinals on Sunday, who recently named former Washington State standout Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback.

The Cards just made some noise ahead of next Tuesday’s trade deadline, sending quarterback Jacoby Brissett to Baltimore after the Ravens announced starter Lamar Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley could both miss the rest of the season.

Kraken News

The Kraken are back tonight.

They’re kicking off a five-game homestand against the Calgary Flames.

It will be the fourth meeting between the two teams this season.

The Flames beat the Kraken 6-2 last Friday to avenge a pair of 6-1 wins by Seattle earlier this season.

Tonight’s match will feature the debut of the towering 6-foot-4 forward Matthew Wood, who the Kraken acquired in a trade earlier this week where they sent Shane Wright to Nashville.

Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KPUG.

College Football News

A former Seahawk star is in talks to take his talents to college football.

ESPN reports that Russell Wilson interviewed yesterday for the head coaching job at North Carolina State. The 38-year-old Wilson joins Philip Rivers as former NC State and NFL quarterbacks who are now prominent candidates for the Wolfpack job.

Wilson played there from 2008 to 2010 before transferring to Wisconsin. The 10x Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champ announced his retirement from the NFL in June and is currently an analyst with CBS Sports.

Speaking of college football, the first College Football Playoff Rankings of the year are out. Miami, Georgia, Utah and Indiana take up the top four, in that order.

Former Huskies coach Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are ranked fifth, while Boise State came in at No. 25.

The Huskies didn’t make the cut themselves and will face a pair of ranked teams to round out the season, with their final two games coming against #4 Indiana and #23 Oregon.

Overall, the Big Ten had six teams in the Top 25.
