SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A portion of SR 20 is back open in Skagit County after a nearly month-long closure.

WSDOT says both directions of the highway reopened on Sunday, Feb. 15, north of Marblemount.

It ended a roughly three-week closure while crews worked on emergency repairs to a culvert and a section of the road that were damaged in the December flooding.

Crews replaced the culvert, rebuilt the eroded roadbed and installed guardrail to reopen the stretch of highway. They’ll now shift the work about 25 miles west to repair more highway damage from the flooding between Challenger and Dallas roads starting tomorrow (Tues).

Most of the work will be off the highway, but drivers should still watch for single-lane alternating traffic along the highway just west of Concrete when crews are working.

Highway 20 remains closed for the season between Ross Dam trailhead and Early Winters.
