BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The habitat at Whatcom Falls Park is being spruced, trimmed and refreshed with the help of the Whatcom County community members in honor of Make a Difference Day.

The City of Bellingham and Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) are teaming up on Oct. 26 to remove invasive species and plant trees and shrubs at the north end of the park. The city expresses that it hopes the event will help improve both habitat and water quality.

Individuals of all ages, experience levels and abilities are encouraged to attend the event. Those who volunteer will be provided with detailed instructions, tools, gloves and refreshments—including Tony’s coffee, Pizza Time and Zeeks Pizza.

Participants will not only help plant trees in Whatcom Falls Park but can take a free sapling home to plant in their own backyard.

Registration is required to participate and can be done online. Volunteers can still register and sign up on the day of the event.

The Make a Difference Day work party will occur from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Warm clothing fit for cold weather conditions is advised.
