Kraken News

The Kraken are back on the ice tonight.

They’re hosting the Utah Mammoth in the second leg of a four-game homestand.

Seattle’s coming off a shootout win over Detroit, while Utah enters tonight’s game having won four of their last five.

Both teams have started their seasons off strong, as the Mammoth currently lead the Central Division and the Kraken are just three points behind first place in the Pacific.

Coverage for tonight’s match begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KGMI.

Seahawks News

Mixed injury news for Seahawks fans going into Sunday’s showdown with the Chiefs.

ESPN reports second-year tight end Elijah Arroyo is undergoing season-ending surgery after injuring his shoulder in last week’s loss to the Broncos.

The good news is, Seattle placed Arroyo on the injured reserve to make room for Zach Charbonnet, who was activated off the physically unable to perform list today. He was a full participant in practice yesterday for the first time since tearing ACL in January.

Head coach Mike Macdonald says it’s possible Charbonnet could make his season debut against Kansas City on Sunday.

NFL News

Meanwhile, Week 7 of the NFL season is kicking off in Chicago tonight.

The Bears are hosting the Patriots in a matchup of 4-2 teams on Thursday Night Football.

It will be Caleb Williams’ second game back from injuring his hamstring in the second week of the season. He’ll be facing a familiar foe in Drake Maye, as the two were part of the same draft class in 2024 when Williams went No. 1 and Maye went No. 3.

Seahawks fans will be getting an early preview of an upcoming opponent, with the Bears set to come to Seattle for a Monday night game in Week 8.

Coverage for tonight’s game begins at 4:30 and kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

Prep Football News

We’ve got some Thursday Night football of our own here in Whatcom County.

Week 8 of the high school football season is kicking off tonight in Blaine. The Borderites are hosting Sultan at 6:00 in a non-league matchup with just two games to go in the regular season.

Coming up tomorrow, the Zone’s Friday Night Lights pregame show will be live from Laurel for Meridian’s game against Nooksack Valley on KPUG.

We’ll also be airing Mount Baker at Lynden Christian on KGMI in a meeting between two of the top 1A teams in the state.

Both games kick off at 7:00 tomorrow night.

Prep Volleyball and Soccer News

Speaking of prep sports, Lynden Christian’s volleyball team topped Meridian in a three-set sweep last night.

With the win, the Lyncs still have a shot at the No. 1 seed in the district tournament after handing the Trojans their first loss of the year in league play.

Meridian has a chance at revenge tonight though, as the Lyncs and Trojans are set to face off in girls soccer. They’re currently tied for first place in the Northwest Conference 1A standings.

Tonight’s match starts at 7:00 from Meridian High School.

WNBA News
