Smoke season is expected to carry on past the height of summer in Washington, and keeping you and your loved ones healthy during this time doesn’t always need something jerry-rigged in front of entry points to the home.

“Installing an advanced air filtration system in your homes ducted system is not as difficult as it may seem! All ducted systems have a filter, it’s just a matter of how efficient of a filter it is,” Phillip Dye, HVAC expert with Feller Heating, said.
Dye says that 1-inch paper filters are the least efficient/effective, but do a better job than having nothing.
“Jumping up to a 4-inch thick media filter, preferably MERV 11 or MERV 13 is ideal, and what we install as our standard filter when replacing an HVAC system, is a large step in the right direction,” he continued.
“But best of all, there are a few options out there when it comes to electronic air cleaners, and/or air purifiers that can be installed in-line with your ducted HVAC system! Even if you are not getting a new HVAC system installed, we can still install a new filtration system to preserve your current system, help with health related issues and keep families safe throughout the state with clean, filtered air,” Dye said.
