BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County is streamlining the application process for development.

The county’s Planning and Development Services (PDS) department announced the launch of a Master Application to be used when developers apply for permits Friday, Jan. 17.

In the past, applicants would need to fill out the same information repeatedly during the application process.

The overhaul of the application process comes while Bellingham’s Mayor Kim Lund’s executive order seeks to meet the demands on Bellingham’s housing inventory. Her three-pronged approach specifically named making it easier to build within city limits.

PDS says they will continue to accept submissions using the old application materials through Feb. 9.

More information about how to use the permits can be found in PDS’s new Administrative Manual.

Editor’s Note: This story has been edited to reflect that Whatcom County made the Master Application.
