Bellingham streamlines PayByPhone parking downtown

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Paying to park in downtown Bellingham just got a whole lot easier.

Starting Monday, June 1, all street parking downtown now has one unified PayByPhone zone.

PayByPhone is a system that allows drivers to pay for parking online or through an app as an alternative to physical parking meters.

The system was previously divided by areas of downtown so payments for one parking session wouldn’t transfer to a different area if a driver moved their car.

But now, a driver who parks near City Hall can later move to Railroad Avenue without paying again for the same session.

According to the city, nearly 60% of people parking downtown pay through their phone.
