BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man who eluded Whatcom County law enforcement after being hospitalized is back in custody.

The Bellingham Police Department says their officers responded to a tip about a person violating a no-contact order at a home on Dec. 4.

The suspect, identified in jail bookings as 50-year-old Jason John, attempted to sneak out the back door but was quickly arrested. John has a lengthy history of attempting to escape police custody.

MBN previously reported that John was hospitalized after slamming his car into a patrol vehicle during a chase last month.

Hours later, he left PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center on foot wearing only scrubs. John was arrested in Everett two days later.

He now faces additional charges and remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $630,000 bail.
