ANACORTES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham man was arrested after shooting a Blaine woman in Anacortes.

Skagit County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Chad Clark says the 34-year-old man called 911 around 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 2 to self-report the shooting.

Deputies arrived at the residence in the 6000 block of Salmon Beach Road to find the man and take him into custody.

They then treated the 41-year-old woman, who suffered an apparent gunshot wound, until medics arrived.

She was transported to the hospital for further treatment and the extent of her injuries are unknown at the time.

Detectives have determined the two people knew each other and believe there are no outstanding suspects, but no further details are being released at this time.

The man was booked into the Skagit County Community Justice Center for first-degree assault.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
