BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – This year’s post-Ski to Sea festivities will have a different look in Bellingham.
The Fairhaven Association says it’s decided not to host the Fairhaven Festival in its usual format this spring.
Instead, it plans to spread the event throughout Fairhaven Village instead of concentrating it all within a single location.
The association says it won’t be closing streets or hosting outside vendors on roadways this year.
“Times are changing, and the Fairhaven Association is evolving with them,” said Kimberly Anderson, Executive Director. “This new approach allows us to support more businesses, create a more accessible and flexible celebration, and foster a true community experience that reflects Fairhaven today.”
But it will continue to offer entertainment, beverage gardens and food vendors around the village.
The association says rising costs, complex planning and greater liability have made it increasing hard to keep the event going in its traditional format.
It hopes the new festival will put more of a spotlight on Fairhaven’s local businesses.
