BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Over two dozen caregivers in Whatcom County are being let go this spring.

PeaceHealth filed a layoff notice with the state Employment Security Department on Wednesday, Feb. 11 announcing mass layoffs.

It’s permanently eliminating 94 positions across the state on April 12, including 26 in Bellingham.

The layoffs also include seven positions in Sedro-Woolley and one in Lynden.

The affected local positions range from mental health therapists and patient access representatives to a director of nursing and program coordinator for cancer research at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.

PeaceHealth said in its notice that relevant unions have been contacted, and the final number of layoffs could depend on union action.

It comes after My Bellingham Now previously reported that PeaceHealth cut 241 more positions last winter, including 56 in Bellingham.
