BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A woman is back in the hospital after jumping from an overpass onto I-5, just over an hour after the hospital had released her.

Northbound traffic was down to one lane at the Alabama Street overpass for about a half hour after the woman jumped and landed on the shoulder of the freeway just after 2 p.m.

People had reported to police on Monday that she was headed to the bridge to harm herself.

She fought with officers who came to stop her from doing that, and they arrested her and took her to St. Joseph Hospital for mental health help.

She was released from the hospital this afternoon, and just 90 minutes later, had come back to the bridge and jumped.

Medics took her back to the hospital, and she’s expected to survive.
