SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — Almost a million UW Medicine patients are affected by a data breach that happened last December.

UW Medicine is sending letters to patients alerting them that an error in the database made some protected information available on the internet.

Files that were available included names, medical record numbers, and descriptions of medical conditions.

The letter says no medical records, sensitive health information, financial information, or social security numbers were exposed.

Those with further concerns can contact a call center they recently set up, toll free at 844-322-8234.
