FERNDALE, WASH. – A motorcycle crash ends in tragedy Monday afternoon in Ferndale.
“It resulted in a fatality, a 18-year-old student,” Riley Sweeny with the City of Ferndale says.
Sweeney says the crash took place at the intersection of Monument Drive and Josie Lane.
The State Patrol says Petr Shulga lost control of the motorcycle and hit the curb.
He was thrown from the bike and hit a pole while the motorcycle came to rest in a pond.
Troopers believe speed and Shulga’s inexperience led to the accident.
It blocked the roadway near Horizon Middle School for hours.
Staff and counselors are available across the Ferndale School District today.
