Suspect in custody after sexual assault reported on Orcas Island

ORCAS ISLAND, Wash. – A suspect is in custody after a sexual assault was reported on Orcas Island.

San Juan County Sheriff Eric Peter posted on social media that the call came in at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning, July 30th.

The adult victim and an advocate were transported to Friday Harbor for a sexual assault exam.

Deputies located the suspect and booked him into the San Juan County Jail.

The sheriff has not publicly identified the suspect but reports that he is in the country on a work visa.

He says the victim and suspect know each other and it was not a random attack.

An investigation into the incident continues.
