Two local teams to play for state championships

Two Whatcom County high school basketball teams will play for state championships Saturday at the SunDome in Yakima.

At 3:00pm the Lynden Christian girls look for their second consecutive 1A title taking on the 24-0 La Salle Lightning. The Lyncs moved on to the title game beating Medical Lake in the semi-finals Friday night 58-34. You can hear coverage of the championship game beginning at 2:45pm on AM1170 KPUG.

At 9:00pm the Lynden boys play Selah for their second consecutive 2A state championship. They advanced defeating Pullman 52-40 Friday afternoon. The Lions championship game will also be on KPUG.

The top-ranked Lynden Christian boys bounced back from their first loss of the season Friday beating Seattle Academy 75-39. The Lyncs play Bellevue Christian in the 4th/6th place trophy game Saturday at 9:30am on KPUG. Pregame coverage begins at 9:15am.

The Lynden girls stayed alive beating Port Angeles 48-33 Friday afternoon. They will battle Black Hills at 9:30am Saturday with coverage starting at 9:15am on KBAY AM930.

The Meridian girls were eliminated from state Friday morning losing to Elma 50-47 in overtime.
