Slight flooding impacts anticipated for Ferndale

FERNDALE, Wash. — The City of Ferndale is expecting some minor flooding impacts today (Friday) through the weekend as the Nooksack River rises due to rains and melted snow.

NOAA predictions show the Nooksack River cresting at just under the 18 foot flood stage, and the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch through this (Friday) evening.

The City is prepared to combat this year’s flooding and reminds the community to abide by road-closed signs — if there is water on the roadway, do not drive through the area.

The City offers information on flood preparation and safety tips on its website, and river level updates can be found on NOAA’s river gauge site for Ferndale.
