The Department of Ecology is considering removing the Skagit County Community Justice Center off the statewide list of contaminated sites.

According to a DOE news release, tests of the area showed the soil and groundwater at the site formerly know as the Truck City Truck Stop, contained petroleum contamination.

In 2015 Skagit County purchased the land and began cleanup with assistance from the DOE’s $1.5 million Remedial Action Grant.

DOE says all recent samples met clean up requirements and the site is no longer a human health or environmental threat.
