WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The final stretch of the Mount Baker Highway to Artist Point is now open.
Artist Point sits at about five-thousand feet and Department of Transportation Crews have been working for weeks to clear up to 70 feet of snow from the road.
It provides great views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker.
Artist Point also serves as a trailhead for several hikes.
The last two-point-seven-miles of the Mount Baker Highway between the Mount Baker Ski Area and Artist Point usually closes in late September or early October.
