BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Port of Bellingham is expanding in hopes of supporting job growth in Whatcom County.

The Port purchased six acres of land from Fiber Glass Systems, L.P., including six buildings with about 71,000 square feet of office and industrial space.

In January, they celebrated the grand opening of their last remaining vacant industrial building before acquiring the new complex on Marine Drive.

Port Commission President Michael Shepard says there’s strong demand for Port-owned industrial space and sees the new complex as a way to support the local economy.

The Port has contracts with 250 industrial and commercial tenants that provide thousands of jobs for the community.
