BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Sheriff’s office says a man left a mother opossum and her three babies in a box at the probation office on the fourth floor of the Whatcom County Courthouse.

The opossum family was eventually in some woods near the courthouse.

Security says when they scanned the box the opossum wasn’t moving and the man told them it was a taxidermy opossum.

They say they knew the man and it’s not unusual for him to have odd items.
