FERNDALE, Wash. – The Denny’s Restaurant in Ferndale will shut down for good Monday afternoon.

“I’ve appreciated [customers’] loyalty, friendship, and it’s gonna make me cry,” owner Milton Barnes told KGMI.

Barnes says a perfect storm is forcing them to close.

Issues with the lease, a required remodel, the minimum wage hike and an increase in semi trucks blocking the entrance all contributed to the decision.

“[We’ve] been here 9 years, and I have a 3-year-old and 7-year-old that grew up here with a lot of my customers seeing them when they were babies and seeing them grow up, and me seeing their families grow up and expand,” Barnes said.

“The overall caring and gratitude from the guests to us, and from us to the guests, it’s just something that can’t be replaced, and it’s going to be sorely missed.”
