One teen dead, multiple injured after home invasion in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, WA. – (KGMI.com) One teen suspect is dead and another is in custody after an attempted home invasion in Mount Vernon over the weekend.

Mount Vernon Police Lt. Mike Moore says officers were called to a home near Harriet Rowley Elementary School early Saturday morning.

Witnesses said that at least two teen males entered the home with weapons in search of a specific person.

A fight broke out and left a 16-year-old Burlington male suspect severely injured.

He later died at Skagit Valley Hospital.

A second suspect, a 15-year-old male from Mount Vernon, was taken into custody and booked into the Skagit County Juvenile Detention Center.

Four occupants of the house sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the attack is not believed to be a random act of violence.
