Oil refining giant seeks to buy Andeavor Anacortes Refinery

ANACORTES, Wash. — Marathon Petroleum Corporation is expected to buy Andeavor, including its Anacortes Refinery, in a $23 billion deal that would create the largest refinery company in the United States.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports Marathon’s six refineries are concentrated in the east while Andeavor has 10 refineries in the west.

An Andeavor spokesman says it’s still early in the process and hard to tell what effect this will have on the operations of Andeavor’s facilities.

The companies expect to close the deal later this year.
