OLYMPIA, Wash. – New simulations of a tsunami caused by a major earthquake off Washington’s coast show major impacts to coastal areas around the Salish Sea, including Bellingham Bay.

The simulations from the state Department of Natural Resources finds residents on the coast would have only minutes before major waves would arrive.

Bellingham would have more warning with the tsunami arriving a little over two hours after a subduction zone quake.

It would be devastating to the waterfront, parts of Fairhaven and other low-lying coastal areas.
