VANCOUVER, WA – (KGMI.com) Five are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Vancouver, Wash. over the weekend.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at a house in the Orchards area of Vancouver around 1 p.m. Sunday.

A family member requested the check after receiving a text from someone at the house, stating they had harmed others at the residence.

According to a news release, the text was received four hours prior to the welfare check because the family member had not seen it until that point.

Using a drone sent into the house, the Sheriff’s Office found inside several people that looked dead.

Major Crimes then took over and determined the scene to be a murder-suicide with a firearm during preliminary investigation.

Four adult family members had been shot, with the suspect likely committing suicide afterwards.

The victims appear to be the wife of the suspect, their two daughters and the suspect’s brother.

Names will not be released until the next of kin is notified and the investigation is still ongoing.
