SEATTLE, Wash. — Macy’s is closing its flagship downtown Seattle store.

Macy’s will be open for one more holiday shopping season but won’t feature the iconic star, which it says is in need of repair.

It will still sponsor the holiday parade and fireworks show.

Despite this and other recent retail closings, Seattle’s Downtown Business Association says retail sales are higher and vacancies are lower than in 2010.
