LYNDEN, Wash. – Lynden teens are organizing a March for Black Lives this weekend.

A group of students known as the Young Activists of Whatcom County will lead the march on July 5 at 2 p.m.

They say they are not affiliated with the larger Black Lives Matter group or any other organization.

Participants will meet at Lynden High School, march to City Hall, and then to the Lynden Police Department.

They say the event is an effort to acknowledge experiences of people of color in our community and to work together to support equality.

Everyone is invited and participants are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
