LYNDEN, Wash. – The coach of the State Champion Lynden Lions football team will lead the 12th Man celebration at the Seahawks’ next home game.

“Because of how hard our kids worked, I was given the Seahawks Coach of the Year Award,” said Lynden High School football coach Blake Van Dalen. “And then afterward, I get to go raise the 12th Man flag, which I think for most people would be a dream come true. It’s just pretty unbelievable and I think I hugged every one of my players again even though I hugged them after the championship as well.”

Van Dalen will hoist the flag at Lumen Field ahead of the Seahawks’ showdown with the Chicago Bears on December 26th.

The City of Lynden will celebrate the teams championship with a parade on Grover Street starting at 2:30 p.m. this Friday.

The Lions won the 2A State Football Championship with a win over Tumwater on December 4th.
