LYNDEN, Wash. — A longtime local and successful entrepreneur, businessman and author has died.
Sid Baron died at the age of 88 last Sunday.
Baron immigrated from the Netherlands and came to Lynden in 1948, getting married and starting a family on a small Custer dairy farm.
He soon began to branch out into his own businesses, opening up Baron TV in Lynden, along with KLYN-FM which would later become Praise 106.5, and Lynden Travel Agency.
Baron later ventured into development activities and formed Exxel Pacific, now one of the largest construction companies in the state, as well as Meadow Greens Retirement and other motels and apartments.
As an author, Baron wrote multiple books throughout his life including “The Way it Was,” which detailed his life in the Netherlands under Nazi occupation.
