BELLINGHAM, Wash. — What do you get when you combine an ice rink, beer kegs, and a bit of imagination?
The answer is what may become Bellingham’s iconic sport — keg curling.
A conversation about making a curling fundraiser fun led to the thought of sliding kegs across the ice, and thus keg curling was born.
Sixty-four teams will battle for bragging rights at the Bellingham Sportsplex as spectators enjoy the on-and-off-ice shenanigans.
Music, a beer garden, snacks, prizes, and a bouncy castle round out the fun.
The tournament runs from 6 to 10 PM Saturday and benefits the Bellingham Blazers Hockey team.
Admission is free.
