BIRCH BAY, Wash. — The Whatcom County Council has unanimously passed an ordinance allowing golf carts on many roads in Birch Bay.
They took the vote after a public hearing Tuesday night.
Some voiced safety concerns.
But others, including Birch Bay resident Pam Hanson, said it would be a boost for visitors and residents alike. “We have a state park, we have a county park coming, and we don’t have a lot of parking for vehicles,” she said.
The council also passed an ordinance establishing a 25 MPH speed limit on many Birch Bay Roads.
