Former Whatcom County resident arrested, charged with multiple sex crimes

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A former Whatcom County resident is in Whatcom County Jail accused of multiple sex crimes.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says Albert Lee Sluys was arrested in Poulsbo last week after reports from two separate victims of sexual assaults that allegedly occurred 9 and a half years ago and ten years ago in Whatcom County.

Sluys is related to both of the victims, one of whom was under 10 when the assaults occurred; the other victim was under the age of 18.

Sluys was charged with first degree child rape and 2nd degree sexual misconduct with a child.
