BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A car driven by a 17-year-old girl from Ferndale veered off I-5 south of Bellingham and crashed Saturday night, sending her and four young passengers to the hospital.

The State Patrol reports the girl was driving northbound near Fairhaven just before 11 p.m. when the car went off the road and rolled several times, coming to rest on its top on the left shoulder.

Her passengers included a 15-year-old girl from Lynden, a 16-year-old girl from Ferndale, a 17-year-old girl from Lake Forest Park and an 18-year-old male from Ferndale.

They were all transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.

Their identities have not been released because of their ages.

Troopers say drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
